The Graphic Agenda has designed a recently launched website to promote an exciting project to create a community shop at Grampound between St Austell and Truro in Cornwall.
   When the people of Grampound learnt that Hollies Store and Post Office was closing in June 2013, due to retirement, a village meeting of local people expressed a need for, and desire to establish, a community shop.
  As a first step a Share Offer is being made available to local residents and friends of Grampound from 2nd Dec 2013 to 28th Feb 2014 to encourage true community ownership and commitment in an exciting and fulfilling venture which will be a great legacy for the village.

A thrilling, moving musical, based on true events here in Crediton at the turn of the 19th Century.
    Brother Jacques is a tale of fate, adventure and discovery. The story starts in Paris, 1789, and follows the path of two brothers, torn apart by the French Revolution. They're swept along in a whirlwind of events at sea, on the rat-infested hulk ships in Plymouth and find themselves landed in the farming community of Crediton. With pretty Kirton girls, scrumpy cider and the hope of freedom, these brothers experience a Devon life they'd never expected to encounter, but always with the distant ring of the bells of Notre Dame in their ears. Will freedom ever be theirs? Will the realisation of their true identities be freedom enough?
   Based on true events, Brother Jacques is an exciting project for CODS. The musical is partly-based in Crediton and tells the story of locals interacting with the Frenchmen captured during the Revolution and brought to Devon as prisoners of war. Children play a pivotal role in the musical, adding an extra dimension to the company - the townsfolk of ol' Kirton would not be complete without them. We are really excited at the prospect of welcoming a Children's Chorus back to CODS after last performing with them in Oliver! in 2010.
   First produced of Plymouth Theatre Royal's Drum Theatre in 1990, Brother Jacques went on to win two Barclays Music Theatre Awards including 'Best New Musical'.

The musical is all about Helena Rubinstein. Out of nowhere she became a household name. Beauty was her business and as the first woman ever to build a global industry she really did have a tale to tell.

'Powder & Paint' is definitely not a biography.
Perhaps it can best be described as a character study wrapped up in romance and mystery. Some liberties have been taken to emphasize the drama and to highlight the challenges which, even today, confront a go-getting woman in a male dominated world. Without doubt 'Madame' Rubinstein met her fair share of fear, loneliness and heartbreak on her rocky road to success.

The story behind Powder & Paint is based on a collection of 2000 letters from 1914 – 1928 between Helena Rubinstein and her London manageress Rosa Bird. They give an extraordinary and very personal insight into a woman who changed the face of women the world over.
