The story starts in Paris, 1789, and follows the path of two brothers, torn apart by the French Revolution. They're swept along in a whirlwind of events at sea, on the rat-infested hulk ships in Plymouth and find themselves landed in the farming community of Crediton. With pretty Kirton girls, scrumpy cider and the hope of freedom, these brothers experience a Devon life they'd never expected to encounter, but always with the distant ring of the bells of Notre Dame in their ears. Will freedom ever be theirs? Will the realisation of their true identities be freedom enough?
Based on true events, Brother Jacques is an exciting project for CODS. The musical is partly-based in Crediton and tells the story of locals interacting with the Frenchmen captured during the Revolution and brought to Devon as prisoners of war. Children play a pivotal role in the musical, adding an extra dimension to the company - the townsfolk of ol' Kirton would not be complete without them. We are really excited at the prospect of welcoming a Children's Chorus back to CODS after last performing with them in Oliver! in 2010.
First produced of Plymouth Theatre Royal's Drum Theatre in 1990, Brother Jacques went on to win two Barclays Music Theatre Awards including 'Best New Musical'.
Order your tickets online at:
www.oliviajamesdesign.co.uk/products/ticket-box-office

NEW PSYCHEDELIC RELEASE - THE GREEN QUESTION MARK. http://post.ly/A6bsd

https://thegraphicagenda.weebly.com/blog/new-psychedelic-release-the-green-question-mark-httppostlya6bsd

https://thegraphicagenda.weebly.com/blog/new-psychedelic-release-the-green-question-mark-httppostlya6bsd#comments

Uncategorized

New Psychedelic 7" coloured vinyl EP release, cover design by Nick Findell www.thegraphicagenda.co.uk To find out more and buy contact: http://post.ly/A6btC The price is £6.00 including postage and all profit will go to Radio BayFM in Exmouth (all volunteers). The show is a mixture of Garage, Psych, and Beat music from the 60s to the present day. Marrs approached regular listeners and professional musicians Icarus Peel, Mordecai Smyth, and Crystal Jacqueline to help form The Green Question Mark and perform on the record. The record is called Pegasus after the title track by Allan Clarke, Tony Hicks & Graham Nash, other tracks include She’s a Rainbow by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and Lucy Leave by Syd Barrett and Roger Waters.
It's far out man!

The Souvenir Programme for Powder & Paint is back from the printers ready for the Gala Night tonight.

https://thegraphicagenda.weebly.com/blog/the-souvenir-programme-for-powder-paint-is-back-from-the-printers-ready-for-the-gala-night-tonight

https://thegraphicagenda.weebly.com/blog/the-souvenir-programme-for-powder-paint-is-back-from-the-printers-ready-for-the-gala-night-tonight#comments

Uncategorized

A love story with a twist...a bitter twist The musical is all about Helena Rubinstein. Out of nowhere she became a household name. Beauty was her business and as the first woman ever to build a global industry she really did have a tale to tell.

'Powder & Paint' is definitely not a biography.
Perhaps it can best be described as a character study wrapped up in romance and mystery. Some liberties have been taken to emphasize the drama and to highlight the challenges which, even today, confront a go-getting woman in a male dominated world. Without doubt 'Madame' Rubinstein met her fair share of fear, loneliness and heartbreak on her rocky road to success.

The story behind Powder & Paint is based on a collection of 2000 letters from 1914 – 1928 between Helena Rubinstein and her London manageress Rosa Bird. They give an extraordinary and very personal insight into a woman who changed the face of women the world over.

Thanks go to Hedgerow Print of Crediton for printing the programme which was art directed and designed by Nick Findell at The Graphic Agenda.

For more information on the musical visit:
www.powderandpaint-themusical.com
